That national sorority put its Penn State chapter on probation in December, according to a Chi Omega press release. That report also mentioned a Penn State Chi Omega sorority party around Halloween that stereotyped Mexicans. They then made cardboard placards with statements like, "Why Lie: It's For Boooze" and "Give Me a Nickel and I'll tickle your pickle," according to a report in Jezebel. The girls smudged fake dirt on their faces and donned cutoff denim shorts, tank tops and plaid shirts. Indiana University's Kappa Delta sorority is drawing fire for a recent party theme : Homelessness. Source: I've been involved in Greek Life at IU for over a decade.BLOOMINGTON, Ind. TL DR: If you don't want to be hazed, there are plenty of options for you in the Greek System at IU. Any one of those three are enough to get a fraternity kicked off campus. There's sort of an "unholy trinity" of three things a fraternity can't do if they want to stay on campus and hazing is certainly one of them (sexual assault and drugs are the other two). If you join a fraternity and they put you in a situation that you aren't comfortable with, quit. Even those that do haze typically don't do anything violent or compromising to one's values. There are several fraternities on campus that have a strict no-hazing policy. The University (and legal system) started cracking down on it several years ago and most of the really bad hazing is gone now. What hazing does exist isn't anything like it was 20 years ago. Hazing does exist at IU, but 90% (or more) of the stories you hear about it aren't true.
